As an aid to nixtoos post, here is an example:

This vidcap below was taken using Image Grabber 2.01. Each individual screenshot was hand picked. This program lets you decide whether to let it auto-select the frames and how many, or to do it by yourself.

1) Once it is installed, open the program and click the File tab and select "Open File".

2) You have five buttons below the File and Help tabs: Play, Pause, Stop, the computer-screen-shaped button auto selects video frames for you, and you decide how many you want it to pick. The next button (can't figure out what it is) selects the video frame that you are currently on. Ex: You let the video play and you come to a spot that you like. You can either pause it and press the button to capture the frame, or press the button to capture the frame as the video is still playing; either way works. I prefer pausing and then saving.

3) Once you have all the video frames that you want, go to the File tab and select "Save File". It will then display a screen that will show you the layout, style, info and details. Click "Save", give it a name and destination in which to save, and you're done!

4) "Options" is the same screen as "Save". Except whatever changes you apply, they'll remain that way for the rest of your files. If you just want to change some things for one particular video, then do it in the "Save" screen.

Here are the customized vidcaps below using "Options":

a. The columns here were changed to 10 instead of 5 and the Intensity of the Drop Shadow was set to 0 instead of 50.

b. The intensity of the Drop Shadow was changed to 100 instead of 50. Offset X and Y just change how big or little the shadow is and on which axis.

c. The preview thumbnail is small, isn't it? Don't worry. In either the "Options" or "Save" screen, increase the number in Tile Width and Tile Height. The video itself is 640x480, so I set the width to 640 and the height to 480. The clarity isn't perfect but the images are definitely much bigger.

d. I went all out on this one. Just tinker with the Details and Info any which way you want. Experiment with it and have fun!

An easy way to create screen shots like a pro is to use imagegrabber

Here are some basic instructions for using imagegrabber. . .
 (non technical english)



  1       download the program

  2      doubleclick the "Image Grabber II.exe" (no installation required)

  3      click: file->openfile (search your video)

  4      doubleclick on your video

  5      click the symbol "monitor"

  6      click "ok"

  7      click file->savefile

  8      ignore the words listed, click "save"

  9      click "save" a second time (where you want to save it)



And that's it!. Now you can upload your image.
